It is very important to take care of our health to stay away from diseases, viruses, short life range/pre-mature death. It is a basic need to be able to live, feel, work and find our place in society. It is the main pillar for the progress we can make, each one, individually, and in communities.
How significant is it to deal with your emotional well-being? Do we dedicate sufficient time to our emotional health or do we seek excuses? Below, I explain how to take care of your psychological health.
On October 10, we all celebrate World Mental Health Day and for this reason, today I dedicate my article to talk about the importance of taking care of our health.
Usually, most people spend some of their time taking care of their physique, and if they’re not feeling well, they go to the doctor to find a solution. For example, if you have had an upset stomach for some time, go to the doctor to find out what happens, get the necessary tests and get treatment.
However, many people do not go to a psychologist when they are ill and do not take care of their mental health as they should. Accumulating painful experiences, not processed correctly, enduring long periods of stress, or being an anxious person who cannot stop obsessively thinking about a certain situation are just a few examples of this lack of attention to one’s mental health.
A healthy lifestyle requires special care for the body and mind, and those who want such a life must be careful to follow a few essential rules. The longest-lived people in the world, the Japanese, pay attention to the health of body, mind and spirit, equally, through means that have been preserved and applied over the centuries. Our responsibility is to provide people mental health and also to provide them with the context in which their fundamental rights are not violated. We have taken on this responsibility through the free psychological counselling centre and we need your help to continue it.
In the social context imposed by COVID-19, we encouraged young people to get involved with personal stories that cover all areas of their lives, under the impact of quarantine and social isolation. For our body to become healthy, Medical knowledge has evolved considerably in recent centuries, from the advent of penicillin to the first methods of treating cancer, but the best treatment for a healthy body remains prevention.
This involves both a lifestyle that presents minimal health risks and the timely discovery of certain diseases. The recommended tests, which are performed regularly, allow the treatment of the disease in the early stages and establish a mental comfort to the patient who knows that his/her body is functioning in normal parameters. The medical insurances offered by the companies in the industry support a healthy lifestyle through prevention, including in the private health insurance packages the possibility to perform the usual tests.
How to take care of your mental health
Always ask for help when it is needed and accept it: We all need help at some point in our life. Accepting it means being brave. Asking for help, in fact, means actively seeking the solution of problems. Accept support from family, friends, or professionals. Sometimes, it’s important to move forward and not let life go wrong with you. The next step is to commit to change and to face these difficulties, accepting the help that is given to you.
Live your life prepared to learn constantly and with a positive mind: The worst thing is to think that you have already lived everything. You can always learn something new and you have to accept these teachings along the way: learn to live with optimism. In this way, you will live better everything that happens to you and you will not feel frustrated when you have to overcome obstacles.
Finally, remember, it is important to take care of yourself physically, spiritually and emotionally!
